In this class an introduction to statistical mechanics
and random processes will be given.
Topics to be covered include:
Statistical ensembles (microcanonical, canonical)
and partition functions and their relation to thermodynamics,
phase transitions and Ising model for magnetic systems, random
walks and polymers, death and birth processes, Brownian motion,
Monte Carlo method, master equation, Fokker-Planck equation.
